The Einstein Science Expo was held last weekend and, just as we have the previous two years, we excitedly attended. This event never disappoints. Of course, being that Jackson has two parents who are scientists he will probably be attending this event for many years. Chris and I enjoy seeing scientific concepts conveyed to young children in unique ways to help them learn. There are exhibits and concepts of varying age applicability which means this event will be entertaining for a child year after year as their grasp on science matures.
Jackson and his buddy...a little unsure of the shark on a leash.
This was the year of the reptile for Jackson. He was mesmerized by the snakes.
My thought here: "Mr. Snake, please don't lash out and bite my son's face!"
This station the kids learned about centrifugal force by making pizza sized art on a fast rotating wheel.
The telescopes were pretty cool. They had little "planets" hung up across the expo center the kids could marvel at.
Chris and Jackson building a rocket that he would later launch off an air fed tower.
Sunday was spent enjoying Mother Nature at her winter finest. Which means it was 20 mph winds and an air temp of 9 degrees (NINE DEGREES!). The wind chill was minus "who the hell cares when it's that cold!".
OK, so we survived and I'm a wimp. Truth be told, once my face went numb during our long walk to our fishing spot the rest of me was pretty warm. I had 5 strategically placed hot packs all over my body, including two foot warmers in my shoes.
Ice fishing was a great time. Chris had heard that Pine Lake in northern WI had some great fishing, it did not disappoint. We caught three fish in an hour! Jackson thought ice fishing was fun, but similar to hunting, his tolerance for sitting still was limited. We'll go back and ice fish again but maybe pick a lake a bit closer to home since the actual fishing time will be abbreviated until (or if) Jackson's attention span for the sport improves.
Never-the-less, the family got out and enjoyed Mother Nature and each other, who could ask for a better day?
: )
Chris getting our entourage ready to head across the lake.
Off we go! We're headed out to fish near a little island out in the middle of the lake (far enough away you can't see it in the photo). It was quite the trek and Jackson walked the entire way there and back. We only fell a "few" times.
Chris drilling our two fishing holes. Jackson used his shovel to scrape away the augured ice.
Dad and Jackson are ready to fish!
Our cozy and comfortable shanty.
Fish number one! He really was more excited about the fish than his face would lead you to believe...
