It's now the time of year when the days seem never-ending and cabin fever begins to set in. I affectionately call it the "Winter Doldrums". With the holidays over there are no more distractions, it's just bitter cold and dark by 5PM. To keep us sane (maybe) we plan various things to get us out of the house. God knows we spend way to much time indoors and on our backsides.
One of those "get out of the house" adventures was our first trip to the Green Bay Children's Museum. We rung in New Year's Eve with another family at high noon. They drop a ball and ring in the new year for the little ones who won't make midnight. Here are a few photos of two of Jackson's favorite stations: the fireman station and the sports simulator.
Ding, ding, ding!!!
The simulator was VERY popular with all the kids.
One Friday evening we took Jackson to "Bead It" where Chris and I had been on a previous date night. It gave Chris the opportunity to make another glass bowl and Jackson was able to make a plate. I like this place, and one of these times I'll make something of my own...scary.
Jackson helping Dad with his glass dish by cutting a few of the colored squares.
Chris is just starting on his glass bowl.
Jackson just starting on his plate.
My job was to go over the colors after he did the initial coat. If you don't you'll end up with a bunch of real light, pastel colors (boring).
Jackson taking our picture. He's getting better. I attribute that to the practice he gets using the camera his Grandma and Grandpa bought him for Christmas.
And the number one activity of our winter, SLEDDING! This is our favorite winter activity right now. We're looking to try cross country skiing and snowshoeing this year as well, anything to keep us active and outdoors.
Jackson and Dad try out the tube my parents bought him for Christmas. It's fast, even on the mild hill we chose.
I'm a kid at heart and flying down this hill on my butt was fun. I even changed it up a bit and went down backwards...that ended in more of a crash and burn scenario though. See below.
Me after log rolling the last 1/3 of the way down the hill. Jackson and I are laughing because I looked ridiculous. Thank goodness Chris didn't get a photo or video of that!
