A blog entry like that will get people's attention!
I surprised Chris a few weeks back with tickets to see the ever profane Kathy Griffin and an overnight stay in the UP of Michigan. It might surprise some (most) of you that we would go to such a show but her comedy is our guilty pleasure. And she didn't disappoint; I laughed until I cried for almost 2 hours.
The show was at a casino, somewhere Chris and I don't typically hang out since we don't gamble and I can't stand the smell of cigarrette smoke. The whole casino experience was a bit of a novelty to us; we felt like fish out of water (see photo).
The decor was, well...interesting. Chris wanted a photo of me with the underwater decor we enjoyed during dinner. It was fitting that Chris had the fish basket.
We were each given $5 to gamble with and we spent it on penny slots. That's right, we were high rollers with our $10. This was my favorite slot machine, "Kitty Glitter". Really?
Can you tell I don't know what the hell I'm doing? I couldn't figure out how to play the penny slot machine. After a few minutes I was finally on my way to riches!
Chris took the easy way and read the directions on the promo card we were given.
Surprisingly, our free $10 resulted in $9.51 in profit! We gave the money to Jackson for his money jar.
The next morning we were greeted with fresh snow, making the UP look like a postcard.
But little boys don't see postcards, they see sledding and snowboarding opportunities!
Jackson has really come a long way with his snowboarding.
This winter has been so mild we have been trying to get out for walks after dinner half the nights of the week. The 6+ inches of snow we got didn't deter us Saturday night. With temps at 33 degrees during the day most of the snow was gone from the sidewalks and roads.
We headed out at about 7 PM and here's what our little miner (note the head lamp) looked like.
We returned home at about 8:30 PM with Jackson taking on a new look...tired. Too much fun with his Grandma and Grandpa during his Friday overnight with them. He was out cold.
