Free is Good!

I had been hanging on to free passes I received through work to the Milwaukee Public Museum for well over a year. They were due to expire this June so I thought why not make a day of it and go to Milwaukee. I won't lie, I had prepared myself to be underwhelmed by our museum experience. Past experiences with public museums were less than desirable. Much to my surprise it was excellent! Three floors of dinosaurs, rain forests, settlers, butterflies, global continent exhibits, and on and on. We gave ourselves three hours there thinking that was plenty, we were wrong! The museum was set to close and we weren't done :( Oh well, it was a great experience and I would encourage anyone who has the opportunity to visit!

Jackson and I in the butterfly exhibit. They had thousands of butterflies flying freely in their butterfly house. We spent quite a bit of time in here.

Jackson watching a very realistic claymation video on T-Rex and his carnivorous ways. Can you tell he's a little freaked out?

The best way to describe his reaction to the dinosaur exhibits is awestruck.

This photo was taken when we first arrived. Jackson was ready to bolt (I don't blame him). It took serious restraint for him to stand still and avert his eyes from the exhibit to the camera.

I think he was having flashbacks to the claymation video he had just seen...

On our way home from Milwaukee we were greeted by an unbelievable sunset, wrapping up an amazing family day.

Last weekend we enjoyed the 83 degree temperature with a long (7 miles) walk to a park. I ended up getting burnt. Come on, who thinks of sunscreen in Wisconsin in MARCH!

After many hours on the playground and the long walk Jackson finally gave in and climbed into the stroller and passed out. We ended up carrying him (still in the stroller) into the house when we got home so he could wrap up his nap....which he desperately needed.

A random photo I took last Wednesday. Jackson and I were getting ready to leave the house when I looked at him and thought to myself, you LOOK like a kindergartner (which is a the reality next year). It just kind of struck me so I took a picture and he gladly posed in kung fu style.
