We lost power tonight at 7 pm during a horrendous storm. Not a big deal, I was sure it would pop back on at any minute. To pass the time I talked with family on the phone, first Mom, then Grandma and then my sister. It was while I was on the phone with my sister that I went into the basement to check on the sump pit, still confident the power would be back on soon....the sump pit was level full. I had JUST been down there five minutes prior and it was 1/3 full. Now it was filling up fast. And so began the process of filling buckets, climbing stairs and pitching water into the street...repeat...for 2 hours. As I was tossing water down the storm drain I stared across the street at the neighbors who had power (our side of the street always loses power). I'll have to admit some not-so-nice thoughts ran through my head. Luckily the power came back on at a little after 10 pm but with some more storms on their way I'm staying up to be sure I don't have to return to bailing duty.

And we were just tired of being too wet to do field work - I would hate to have to worry about flooding, too! Just enough rain every day to keep us from getting things done around here. Good thing you are in such terrific shape!
