There's good news and there's bad news. I'll start with the bad and wrap up with the good. The bad news is that as of last weekend my brother and Mara are now residents of Kirksville, Missouri and are no longer just a stones throw from Green Bay. For the past 3-years its been awesome having them in Milwaukee and being able to spend weekends at each others houses or meet to go hiking somewhere. While I realize the move is a good thing man will I (we) miss them!
So, that's the bad news...I guess bad for me but the bad news is couched in good news for Mike and Mara. The good news being that Mike and Mara are embarking on a new beginning in Kirksville. Mara starts Med School at A.T. Still School of Osteopathic Medicine and Mike begins classes at Truman State University working towards a PhD. Mike will also be doing research work at Truman while attending classes. We are so happy for them but we will miss them SO MUCH!!!
The move to Kirksville went smooth for Mike and Mara...as smooth as moving can go! My parents, Chris, Jackson and I went down to "help". I put help in quotes because Chris and I spent time with his sister who came over from KC and don't feel like we did all that much. I especially dodged the work taking care of Jackson. Which leads me to some advice for new parents...if you travel with a small child do so in the middle of the night while they sleep. On the way down we traveled from Iowa to Kirksville in the mid-morning and he was not a happy camper. But for the 10 hour trip back we left at 4 am and he did remarkably well, sleeping most of the way!
While in K-ville Jackson went swimming for the first time (see photos). The water was so cold he was shaking within minutes so he didn't get to play too long. As I said, we got to see Chris' sister and her family while we were down there. They hadn't seen Jackson yet so it was a special visit. It was so great of them to come over from KC to spend time with us!!!!
There was a lot that happened this past weekend and we tried to capture it in photos and video, enjoy!
