Why are they throwing bears onto the ice?

Saturady night we attended the Green Bay Gamblers hockey game, it was their annual "Teddy Bear Toss". They'll donate the 8,000 bears that were thrown onto the ice this year to Aurora Hospital's pediatrics unit. What a great event. It was fitting that the young man who sang the National Anthem was in remission after battling leukemia; he had an unbelievable voice.

The idea is that after the first Gambler's score you toss the bears onto the ice. This year they made their at the very end of the first period, or so everyone thought. Too late, the bear tossing had already begun and there was no stopping them!

The rest of the photos are just some good and goofy shots from the weekend that I thought some of you might like.
