Soaking up the sun while we can still feel our extremities.

I'm dreading winter more and more as I now begin to see frost in the morning and need gloves for my outdoor runs. Saturday we were lucky that we hit about 50 degrees and the sun was out in full force. Chris hunted all day Saturday so Jackson and I headed up north, while we still can, for some hiking and exploring, but not until one important delivery arrived: our new washer! Finally, after 1 month of the laundry mat (ugh!)we have our front loader. I can't even begin to tell you how much I LOVE it!

Now, back to the Saturday activities. After Jackson and I were done marveling at the new washing machine (yes we actually watched wash the first load for 20 minutes) we packed a picnic lunch and headed north about an hour.

We made two stops. Both were beautiful recreational areas where we could hike and explore (they are also both associated with hdroelectric dams I knew about by way of a work project). At stop #1 we ate our lunch on a log along the Peshtigo River and hiked the woods for awhile. Then we headed a little further north to another area where we played in the sand, threw enough rocks to build a second dam, and hiked. It's amazing how easy it is to entertain a 3 year old in the outdoors.

We had a wonderful day!
