The Family Christmas 2010

As is tradition, the first Saturday after Thanksgiving the Wenndt Family Christmas is held. This year the Hans Family hosted us in Ankeny, IA. We left on Friday afternoon and stayed in a hotel just outside Des Moines. Jackson couldn't wait to go swimming when we got to the hotel. And, as is Murphy's Law, the only thing I managed to forget to pack was Jackson's swim trunks. I have no idea how I managed packing Chris and I's but not Jackson's. Luckily, he had on old pants that I had no problem cutting off. Voila, swim trunks, the ultimate meltdown averted.

Saturday morning we arrived in Ankeny for the Christmas gathering. We had an unbelievable turn out with family traveling from NE, IN, LA, TX, WI and other states I'm drawing a blank on right now. As is also tradition, we had a lot of amazing food and more leftovers than I care to admit to. Santa also made an appearance and roused the already sugar-high children. We have so many little ones in the family Santa's bag barely fit all of the presents.

One of the highlights of this Christmas was seeing my Dad sit on Santa's lap. Let me explain before the rumors start... Larry turns 60 on 12/27 and his favorite 'Elfets' had to make sure Santa recognized this upcoming milestone with, and in front of, his extended Family (you can thank us later Dad).

Merry 60th Dad!

What was in that bag from Santa's Elfets? Just some gag items:
  • 60 CAR WIPES TO KEEP LARRY'S ‘SECOND HOME’ LOOKING SPIC-AND-SPAN
  • 60 GOLF TEES FOR HIS SUMMER ENJOYMENT/FRUSTRATION
  • 60 TIC-TACS IN EACH CONTAINER (THE ELFETS COUNTED, THAT’S WHY THERE’S A SINGLE ORANGE PIECE IN EACH.)
  • 60 NOTEPADS FOR HIS CAR (THE OLDER YOU GET THE MORE YOU FORGET, SO THESE SHOULD COVER HIM FOR A WEEK OR SO.)
  • 60 KISSES JUST FOR DAD…BECAUSE YOUR FAMILY LOVES YOU!
