riday afternoon I took the family with me to Door County for a dedication ceremony I was attending on business. It couldn't have been a more beautiful day and I was lucky enough to be able to enjoy it working and with my family. After the dedication and playtime on the property we headed to a favorite place to eat, PC Junction. We've been here the last 2 years and each year he seems more enthralled by the simple act of a train bringing him his food or traveling stuffed animals (see video).
Saturday was a fun day of putting up the tent and talking about our night to be had under the stars. The Evenson's came over for dinner and stayed the evening. We all enjoyed our share of wine and beer while the kids played until they pooped out on the family room floor. Needless to say, we didn't make it to the tent that night as it was too late. So we compromised with our half-comatose 3 year old and all 'camped out' on the family room floor.
Sunday we packed up and headed to Appleton for a final hurrah at my parent's condo pool. It was HOT and the pool felt amazing. Jackson swam his little heart out. We stayed and enjoyed a condo-wide dinner my parents hosted. We left at 6:45 pm and Jackson was out by 6:50 pm, for the rest of the night.
Tuesday night I tried my hand at my Grandma's coffee can recipe. I hadn't ever attempted a recipe that called for scalded milk or gave specific temperatures for all the ingredients. Without a thermometer I was doomed but persisted. My bread didn't rise, no surprise. My Grandma is likely looking down on me giggling saying "Shelly, Shelly...." and then encouraging me to try again. Today I bought a thermometer and will attempt the bread again.
PC Junction - this squirrel (?) was a hit!
