A Family Weekend at Home

This was a weekend to lay low and get things done around the house. On Valentine’s Day Chris and I did go out with another couple and really enjoyed ourselves. We hadn’t been out to celebrate Valentine’s Day in FIVE years. Even before Jackson we would usually stay in. It was a nice change of pace to have a fantastic dinner with great company and delicious wine. My parents came up and watched Jackson while we were gone. Unfortunately, we had run him ragged all day so he crashed an hour after they arrived. Luckily, my Mom was able to get in a Valentine’s craft with him for Chris and I before he went down(see slide show).

Last week Jackson went to the pediatrician’s office twice. He has “issues” with his bottom that involve an infection, diaper rash and diaper chaffing. The poor child has three kinds of creams that need to go on each time he’s changed. The doctor’s advice was to let him be naked as often as possible. This resulted in numerous pee puddles around the house. I was lucky enough to be running an errand when Jackson decided to leave a puddle and a “pile” for Chris. Chris promptly put the diaper on after that.

The rest of the weekend was spent cleaning. The house needed it bad and my car needed it worse. Jackson and I spent over an hour vacuuming out my car today. A little piece of advice for those who just had children or will be having children…don’t invest in a nice car. Pre-Jackson I was adamant about keeping my car spotless without a crumb or hair to be seen. Today I found about 300 gold fish, dried up peas, cookies, graham crackers and a white stain I can only assume is milk that spilt months ago. I’m certain I’ve acclimated to the smell so I have to apologize to anyone who may have recently ridden with me : )

The weekend in pictures:

I managed to sneak in 12-miles over the course of this weekend. I've dubbed this new approach to running "rehab running" because it’s slow and I have to concentrate on my form, pain, stretching, etc but it’s running never-the-less so I’ll take it! A big thanks to Mike and Mara for encouraging me to visit a DO. She was very attentive and referred me to a sports trainer who is helping me get to the bottom of my leg pain. In the meantime I’ll continue my “rehab” runs and be thankful for each stride I can manage.

Jackson did a lot of gofing off and playng hard this weekend and then crashed various times, usually after a tantrum. Here's a video right before he went down for a nap. The video ends before the sow began but you can imagine.
