Que Sera, Sera....

...Whatever will be, will be. That's my deer hunting motto and apparently it will be no deer for me this gun-deer season. I can't say I'm not disappointed but I did get an entire (insert sarcasm) 1.5 days in my tree stand. No, Jackson didn't go with us, my parents watched him both nights. He'll be going with us soon enough and then my hunting time won't be so limited. Saturday we sat from 5 am until 5:30 pm. I never would have thought the 3 does we saw at 6 am would be it for the REST of the weekend! That makes for a long day and a half in the stand. But there's always next year and I will be out again. I do have one more opportunity to get a doe during the doe-only season coming up in December. I'll get out at least once, even if that means burning a vacation day to do it. The last 3 years I've only been out 1 day each season due to various factors including having a baby...that tends to change things. In the spirit of wild game we gave Jackson some goose sausage for lunch today and he LOVED it. I was leery to try it given the oily reputation goose has but this was surprisingly good! BTW - that's rice under his nose, not a booger (Mike).

Since I have zero pictures of dead deer I've added some of the candid photos of Chris and I as well as the incredible sunrises and sunsets witnessed from my stand to the slideshow below.

While we hunted Jackson was living it up with his Grandma and Grandpa, as usual. They took him to Barnes and Noble to play with their train sets and then to see live reindeer. This had to of put the little guy over the top. Now that Christmas is approaching we've been reading up on Santa and his reindeer and they've quickly become a favorite. Oh yeah, elk and reindeer are one in the same : ) The cherry on top for Jackson was Grandma and Grandpa getting him his own little farm set to play with. Home isn't looking all that appealing to him anymore : ) Chris and I are so lucky to have my parents nearby and we are so appreciative of all their help and the love they shower on Jackson.

When we got to my parents to pick up Jackson he was just about ready to nap so I scooped him up and he snoozed away in my arms. This photo of the two of us is funny...who looks more tired, him or me? And whose cheeks are more red, Jackson's from teething or mine from the 7 degree Saturday morning sit?

We headed back to Green Bay on Sunday around lunch. We unpacked the hunting stuff from the truck then loaded up the swimming gear and headed for a dip at the Y pool. After the swim we came home and raked and played outside until dark. Swimming and outside time are a lethal combination. By 5:15 pm Jackson was asking for his Nuk and "night-night". He was out on my shoulder by 5:20 pm. Wow...guess a weekend at Grandma and Grandpa's and an afternoon with Mom and Dad is draining. Mission accomplished : )
