Opening of Deer (Bow) Season
OK, I don't know what the hell that thing is suppose to be, I don't think it's a deer. Anyway, opening of deer season means it's just Jackson and I to "fend" for ourselves : ) On Friday I met Jackson and Chris at the archery range after work for one last target practice. This time Chris got to shoot at the anniversary gift I gave him (how many times will he be able to say that!). I gave him a GlenDel Full Rut archery target. Jackson and I ate dinner in the back of the Trailblazer with the rear gate open and watched as Chris confirmed his bow was sighted in to 60 yards.
Saturday Chris left at 4 a.m. and Jackson and I began our day at 5 a.m. It was raining out so we didn't go for our usual farmer's market jaunt and run on the trail, instead we stayed in and played. Chris came home at 9 a.m. to warm up and dry out (still raining) which allowed me to run. I had planned a great run around town but settled for a treadmill at the YMCA instead. I really want a treadmill for home but that's a "discussion" I'm not getting into : )
Chris left to go back out and hunt at Noon (still raining) and Jackson and I readied for our tea party. Yes, a tea party! Friday night I received a call from our Pastor's wife (Jane) inviting Jackson and I to a tea party at church Saturday from 2-4 p.m. The party was in honor of the Women's Fellowship group who basically mother everyone in the congregation. Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE TEA, so after Jane assured me that bringing Jackson was OK I agreed. Of course, Jackson hadn't napped that day and the table we were assigned to was a crystal theme (literally, that was the theme). Perfect for a crabby 1 1/2 year old! Thank goodness the comedy and show they put on kept him mostly entertained...the lemon cake appeased him too! Chris got home at 9:30 p.m. that night (still raining) soaked and chilled to the bone. He proclaimed that tomorrow was going to be a family day, he was staying home.
So Sunday we got up and went to 8 a.m. church and then came home to wade through Jackson's clothes. This is a feat I was dreading but happy to have done! It started to dry out by the afternoon so we took the dogs and went to Baird's Creek for a hike. It was still a bit muddy but the flowers were beautiful!!! When we got back the dogs were "treated" to a chilly bath outside and so we all stayed outside while they dried off for the rest of the afternoon.
Winter is looming and I'm realizing that the days are going to be LONG when you can't go outside as often as we do now....Winter could be a little rough...

I LOVE the picture of Jackson taking the branch in the face! That is some good stuff...:)
Also the picture of Chris & Jackson walking up to the deer target looks like Chris got shot in the @$$...:)
Winter is rough but it always makes me appreciate spring/summer/fall so much more! And you will come to enjoy the simplicity of winter time as Jackson gets older- not as many places to be and it becomes so comforting to have to stay home sometimes :)
I agree with Mike- that picture of them walking towards the target totally looks like Chris got shot in the butt! lol
That is one BIG coneflower! Look out Jackson!
What awesome pictures! Jackson is getting so BIG! I love all of the pictures! Of course, I'm not partial or anything! :)
