Chris and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary this past Saturday. In celebration Chris surprised me with an overnight getaway to the Beacons Resort in Minocqua. Minocqua is the town where we were married, the actual resort were the wedding took place is now condos. That didn't stop us from sneaking onto the property to get some pictures through! It was fun to reminisce.
Chris also arranged for a cake topper from the bakery that made our wedding cake. The cake topper we were saving for our 1 year anniversary spoiled when our freezer went out about 6 months after our wedding. This one didn't have time to spoil...it was as good as I remember!
After doing some sight-seeing and shopping we headed to our resort. Chris did an incredible job picking out where we stayed. It was nestled on the other side of the lake from Minocqua, within a dense stand of pines. Our room was on the top level and was fully furnished with a full kitchen, fireplace, two rooms, two bathrooms and deck. Much more room than we needed but this was the room that came with a deck. We were sure to enjoy the deck and all the wildlife we saw: bald eagle, loon, flicker, pine squirrels, pileated woodpecker, blue-jays, black capped chickadees.....
Jackson spent Saturday night with my parents. They took him to the Appleton farmer's market and a wedding reception. From the sounds of it he kept Grandpa very busy at the reception while my Mom served as the person attendant. As always, a BIG thank you to my parents for watching Jackson! They're helping us out again Monday night as Chris and I travel with my co-worker and her husband to a Brewers game in Milwaukee. Thank goodness he LOVES his Grandma and Grandpa!!!
