Saturday I met my brother and sister in Milwaukee for an overnight getaway. As you might expect, Mike conjured up a joke the second I arrived. Visit his blog for the video and story....I know he'll post it. He never fails to make me look like an ass. He naturally is one.
We've never had a get-together like this before but it was much needed, enjoyed and overdue. After meeting at the hotel (we were upgraded to the boardroom suite!) we headed to lunch and then to the Lake. On our way to the Lake Mike was busy putting lip gloss on (OK, chapstick) as he sailed past our exit and steered us onto the Interstate headed towards Beloit/Chicago. Mike tried getting off at the next exit to turn around but ended up back on the Interstate towards Beloit/Chicago. I know, we shouldn't be letting him drive. Nice Mike.
Once we made it to the Lakefront we downed plenty of Alterra coffee and took a long walk along Lake Michigan...I miss my visits to Milwaukee when Mike & Mara lived there! At one point during our walk we were on a bridge over a busy road and Jen froze. She's afraid of heights so Mike decided to not let her off the bridge, real funny Mike. I tried explaining to Jen that she doesn't have a fear of heights, she has a fear of falling. That was of little comfort as Mike harassed her.
In the evening we enjoyed some awesome cheese and wine. Well, let me clarify, Mike enjoyed his wine. The crap recommended for Jen and I by the wine "connoisseur" at Whole Foods made our eyes water. YUK! We spent the evening making fun of ourselves as we paged through some old photo albums. Wow, lets just say we all had (in Mike's case still have) awkward genes. Mom & Dad, why didn't you help us?!?!
Jackson and Chris enjoyed their Father/Son day Saturday by heading over to Waupaca to check trail cameras. I returned home Sunday around lunch and Chris went to shoot his bow with friends and hang a tree stand. I decided to let Jackson have some fun playing with water in the sink. In the blink of an eye that little stinker shimmied into the sink fully clothed. Oh well, he needed a bath anyway so off came the clothes and the sink became a bath/shower.
Thank you to Mike & Jen for such a fun getaway! And thank you to Tony, Mara and Chris for helping to make it happen.
