Another Weekend Gone : (

Why is it that the work week drags on and the weekends just FLY by? I shouldn't be so pessimistic, that isn't always the case. This last work week, for instance, went by fast for me. I got to spend a beautiful day in the field Tuesday and then travel to Wisconsin Dells for a fun overnight retreat with my Environmental Department. One of the most unbelievable things we saw while in the Dells was former Lake Delton. For those of you who don't know, the recent floods in the Midwest caused the dike that held back this lake to fail and effectively drained the lake. You'll see from the photo below the lake bed is actually starting to revegetate. It was a sad site, three homes were literally washed down stream when this lake drained.

On to the weekend.... Saturday we crammed in way to much stuff but had fun never-the-less. I went to the Y early in the morning and Chris and Jackson picked me up at 8:45am to head for some morning coffee. After the java we took our usual Saturday morning trek to the farmer's market and then a little shopping. After Jackson's nap we headed to a bayshore park for a picnic lunch and playground fun. Jackson wore himself out on the playground equipment playing for over an hour. After the picnic we went home and washed the car and the dogs. Then after dinner we went to the Evenson's house for a walk along the Fox River Trail. Jackson, Merrick and Sophia play so well together. I'm guessing the highlight of their walk was the ice cream pit stop we made.

Sunday was more laid back. The only "event" planned was to go shoot our bows. I hadn't shot mine in a year and I missed it, Chris will shoot any chance he gets. Jackson was fun to watch as he explored the bow range and watched us intently as we shot. I thought the shooting at the neighboring gun range would have startled him but he didn't mind at all. Don't worry, the ranges are not immediately adjacent to one another or Jackson would have had ear plugs in.

That's the Stokes' weekend in a nutshell, hope yours didn't go by as fast as ours did!
