Is it Halloween Soon?

As parents you can either hit a home run at Halloween or cause undue psychological harm to your child depending on how you frame up the whole 'holiday'. I'm hoping we're doing a good job incorporating just enough of the spooky/scary side of Halloween so as not to freak Jackson out.

Chris and I are not fans of Halloween and I still don't fully understand why this is a 'holiday' but I'll go with it, if not for anything but the gut and gum rotting treats. My real motivation for this holiday are the kids. Jackson, his friends and all the neighborhood kids who can't wait for the holiday that recognizes pretending to be someone or something you're not for the sake of candy. The big dilemma in the Stokes' household is what Jackson should be. He waivers minute by minute as to what he should be: a spooky, a shark, a lion, a giraffe..... and anything else he happens to see a costume for.

Saturday we did the Pink Pumpkin (5K) Walk for Breast Cancer. Now here's a Halloween themed event I can really get behind. I'm proud my Company honored my sponsorship request and proud of my family for walking with me. It was a bit chilly and breezy (translation: we froze our butts off) but by by mile 3 we warmed up.

Jackson is curious and freaked out all at the same time...
