Weekend Hodgepodge

Hodgepodge is defined by Merriam-Webster as "a heterogeneous mixture: jumble" and that's what our weekend was, a hodgepodge. It consisted of playing in the basement Friday evening due to bitter cold temperatures. Lots of cooking, real and make believe, Saturday morning and then down time the rest of Saturday due to an elevated fever (Jackson, not us). Chris was fine with staying in...it allowed him to play with his belated Christmas gift from me, a tree stand. After the torment Maggee took from our indoor time I'm thinking she would prefer we get out more.

I think the saying for this situation is "Ass over tea kettle"

You can guess what happened just after this photo was snapped

Poor Maggee

Not feeling so well

Jackson serving us 'dinner' (nothing like the free gas station popcorn you get with a 10 gallon purchase)

Sunday, however, Jackson was feeling better so we got out for shopping and then went sledding. What I didn't expect was the fierce wind on the sled hill, it made the temperature borderline miserable (at least for me!). I told my fingers and toes to suck it up because Jackson was having a blast and my new Smart Wool long underwear was keeping the rest of me warm. We all stuck it out, even after Jackson's sled veered off onto the 'big kids' sled run and over a ramp. He got some decent air, I'll give it a 7.5, but was lucky enough to stay with the sled. He didn't fare so well later on though (I'll give that jump a 2). That was our queue to pack it up.

Time to sled!

The jump with 50% success
