Call of the Wild

Chris is prepping to go out west to elk hunt in a couple weeks. This has consumed him most evenings as he prepares his pack and practices his calls. Jackson is loving every second of this and wants to play a part in the preparations. Chris indulges him by allowing him to blow on his elk call and deer call. Here's some video...now imagine this noise for an hour each night. The neighbors must wonder what we're up to.

Sticking with the wild theme, Sunday morning we met the Thoresen family at Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary. It was a lot of fun watching the kids enjoy the trail, animals, interactive displays and each other. It's so much fun watching Jackson and Cody interact. I was especially pleased by Jackson's willingness to mimic Cody's big boy potty efforts. Cody gets some of the credit for Jackson going #2 on the potty for the first time that afternoon.

By the time we left Bay Beach Jackson was famished and tired. He fell asleep on the short drive to lunch but the minute he heard Culver's he woke up and said "We at Culver's?"...he was awake now!

augh, those darn elk calls are like musical instruments in our house too. our poor neighbors must think it's some weird mating call thing.

jon has calls for the kids too as it prevents him from handing over his good ones for them to goober up. jackson's pretty good at it. watch out he may grow up waking to play the elk bugle in the high school band.

thanks for the trip and tour of the bay beach. it was way cool and we'll be back there again!

cody and jackson are too cute together. just happy to see that they're teaching each other good habits right now!
