Home-Sweet-Home

After being in Knoxville, TN for work Tues-Fri it was good to be home. Scratch that, it was GREAT to be home.

To add to the sweetness of my return, my sister arrived from Iowa on Friday. My parents were headed for a weekend away with my Mom's siblings so Jen offered to come up and help me take care of Grandma for the weekend. She must have sensed (or was told) of my apprehension. It wasn't that I didn't want to stay with my Grandma, it's more so the fact that all my life my Grandma has taken care of us, taking care of her is a reversed role I wasn't ready to take on with confidence, yet. Jen had a lot of experience after taking care of Grandma when she was still in Eldridge, and it showed. I learned a lot from her about how to keep Grandma's spirits up, keep her moving and taking care of her. An ENORMOUS thank you to sister for her help.

Despite the constant rain ALL weekend, we (Jen, Chris, Jackson, Grandma and myself) had a really had fun time this weekend. We took Grandma to Kohl's and Starbucks (she loved the green tea!) and even introduced her to the webcam. We had Mike, Mara, Rohan and the puppies on webcam for quite awhile Saturday. Rohan is getting so big and what a sweetheart!!! He's hilarious around the puppies, as are they around him.

As for this week, I'll be smothering my family. Chris and Jackson are flying out Friday to spend the weekend in Kansas City for Chris' niece's 1st Communion.

I love how close you all are. What a wonderful family you have. I bet your grandma enjoyed every minute of it!
