Iowa Adventure

Jackson and I headed to Iowa Thursday evening to spend the weekend with my Sister and her family and my Grandma. The trip to and from Iowa went great, Jackson was a great navigator.

Friday morning we saw the girls off to school. As the bus rode up Jackson couldn't say "bus" fast enough over and over. He also learned to say McDonald's (we tend to stop there when we travel since it's so kid friendly). Now he sees a McDonald's and says "Donald's!". Nice. I'm sure you can imagine the "joy" this brings me.... Anyway, after we saw the girls off Jen, Jackson and I headed to the Children's Museum. All I can say is Jackpot! Jackson LOVED everything about this place, especially the cars and farm equipment and animals. Enjoy the video of him dancing. For those biologists out there you'll see the similarities between him and the sandhill crane mating dance, it's eerily similar. Check out the link to the crane dance example!

Friday night Taylor watched Jackson so I could meet up with some girlfriends from high school. Talking with those girls is like riding a bike. We picked up like we never were apart, it was great! The next morning we all got together for a play date. There was the five of us and NINE kids ranging from 5 months to 9 years. We all enjoyed the chaos.

Jackson really enjoyed all the play time he had with his cousins, Taylor and Kaylee, and their dogs, Annie and Shelby. They wore him out every day and vice-versa, I think! He also enjoyed the time he got to spend with his Na-Na. My Grandma still has toys from when I was a baby and Jackson loved them like they were brand new from Mattel. As for his Tanta, well he adores her. For those who don't know, "Tanta" is German for Aunt.

A HUGE thank you to my sister and her family for hosting us all weekend. We enjoyed every second of our time with you!!!

Side note - Jackson "colored" a photo for my work's Halloween contest. It wasn't a masterpiece except to his parents. He was in a great mood creating his work of art so I caught some of it on video.

I notice no one is mentioning the video of Jackson running head first into the wall...like Tommy Boy...:)

...there was a mention of a 'face-plant' though, Mike...

Love the animal sounds - what a difference a couple of months can make - can't wait for Sam to start that!
