Ok, it only got to 43 degrees but the sun was out and that was an enormous improvement on yesterday's weather. To satisfy my horrible case of cabin fever (the worst I've ever had) we headed a little south to Thousand Island Nature Preserve in Kaukauna to do a little hiking. Due to the deluge of rain the area has seen in the past week the Fox River swallowed up some of the boardwalk trails but there were plenty of other trails to explore, and explore we did! During our hour hike we saw a garter snake, a barred owl, chipmunks, downey and hairy woodpeckers, buffalo heads and about 10 deer. The animals were enjoying the warmer weather and sunshine as much as we were!
Once we got home we played in the yard with the dogs for while. They had a blast and ended up rough housing with one another which wears them out (our ultimate goal).
I'll quite belly-aching about the weather now but if Mother Nature dumps more of the white stuff on us I'm not sure I'll be able to contain my frustration : )

How do you know it was a downey woodpecker? Did it have an extra Chromosome 21? I wouldn't think karyotyping a bird would be worth the cost...
What is a buffalo head??
Biking and hiking weather is here!!!!
